Title: The Committee for Environmental Protection: Its Establishment, Operation and Role within the Antarctic Treaty System
Abstract: Two years have passed since the entry into force of the Protocol on Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty1 and the establishment of the Committee for Environmental Protection (CEP) under this Protocol. It is now timely to examine the operation of CEP and the development of its functions thus far, as well as to speculate on how its future relationships with other components of the Antarctic Treaty System (ATS) may evolve.
