Details of the road section investigated are given and comparisons are made with other German roads regarding the density of traffic, composition of traffic and safety. Results are submitted on safety, traffic movement and the behaviour of drivers, density and composition of traffic (speed behaviour, local speeds, speeds of travel, overtaking, amount of overtaking, spacing, vehicle following behaviour, time gaps, lines of vehicles), attitude of drivers, assessment (cost/beneft ratio) and methods of investigation: it was found that there were improvements in safety due to the 2+ 1 lane markings, reduction in traffic and the use exceeds the costs by a factor of ten.Read More
