Title: Les leishmanioses diagnostiquées au CHU Benbadis de Constantine (Algérie): bilan de cinq années (2006–2010)
Abstract: En Algérie, les leishmanioses sévissent selon un mode endémoépidémique. Un pic d’alerte de 30 227 cas a été atteint en 2005. Notre étude rétrospective s’est déroulée sur une période de cinq ans (de 2006 à 2010), durant laquelle nous avons examiné 352 prélèvements cutanés et 892 frottis de moelle. La répartition des cas de leishmaniose cutanée (LC) selon l’âge montre que toutes les tranches d’âge sont touchées avec des extrêmes de dix mois et 95 ans. La classe modale se situe entre 20 et 30 ans avec 67 cas. Les lésions sont généralement uniques, l’atteinte du visage, la plus fréquente, se voit dans 53 % des cas. En ce qui concerne la leishmaniose viscérale (LV), l’enfant paye le plus lourd tribut. Plus de 87 % des patients atteints de LVont moins de 14 ans. Le plus jeune est un nourrisson de huit mois, ce qui témoigne d’une incidence élevée de la maladie. L’évolution de la maladie sur ces cinq années montre une diminution franche des cas de LV passant de 13 cas en 2006 à cinq cas en 2010. Cette leishmaniose est donc en nette régression en Algérie. Cependant, la prévalence de la maladie reste élevée principalement dans les régions rurales.
