Much effort has gone into the immobilization of homogeneous catalysts in an attempt to create a catalyst that is easily removed and that can be reused many times. The authors find that in practice the immobilized catalysts never achieve more turnovers than the homogeneous catalyst. In addition they are often slower, more expensive and the large amount of carrier material leads to more waste. Details can be found in the review on pages 3--25 (S. Hübner, J. G. de Vries, V.
