Abstract: A more homogeneous, less massive Halbach magnet array for portable NMR was presented. Based on the general theory of cylindrical magnet, we describe a construction and performance of a small cylindrical magnet using crescent-shaped configuration to improve the 2D field homogeneity, and a novel test tube magnet (TTM) composed of a dipole cylinder magnet and a hemi-sphere magnet at one end to improve the 3D field homogeneity. The improved field of cylindrical magnet, with inner radii, 30mm, and outer radii, 35mm, is simulated by ANSOFT MAXWELL 3D and MATLAB. Flux density elements are effectively corrected in the homogeneous magnetic field region. The homogeneity increases, the magnet volumes and mass are relatively decreased, and the construction is very reasonable.
