Title: Investigation on organophosphorus pesticide residue in fresh melon and legume vegetables in Huizhou.
Abstract: Samples of fresh melon and legume vegetables were collected from farm product markets in Huizhou City from Feb to Jun,2008.Organophosphorus pesticide residues were detected in vegetables using methods of rapid tests and gas chromatography.The pesticide residue varied in different vegetables.The pesticide residue rates were found to be very high in cowpea,kidney pea and turnip,that were 25.0,30.0 and 33.3%,respectively,and low in green cucumber and eggplant,13.3 and 14.3%,respectively.The over-limit ratio of pesticide residues were generally low in the vegetable samples,and the hightest were found in cowpea,kidney pea and turnip(3.70%),followed by turnip,green cucumber and eggplant(2.47,2.47 and 1.23%,respectively).The pesticide residues could not be detected in towel gourd,Lagenaria siceria,little pumpkin,balsam pear,tomato and potato.The main residue pesticides detected were isocarbophos,omethoate,triazophos followed by methamidophos,chlorpyrifos and phosphamidon.
