Title: Summary of Crop Insurance Programs Available to Arkansas Crop Producers
Abstract: Introduction Crop insurance programs are key risk management tools for U.S. crop producers. Such programs provide risk protection against low yields and/or market prices. These programs are administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency (USDA/RMA). The producer-paid crop insurance premiums are subsidized by the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC). This brief summarizes the eight crop insurance programs currently available to Arkansas crop farmers. As Table 1 illustrates, five of these programs provide coverage at the individual (farm)-level, while three provide area (county)-level coverage.
