Abstract: Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) is valuable source of antioxidant compounds. Extracts obtained from this plant species seed could be used as a natural antioxidants. Defatted rapeseed was extracted by methanol and ethanol at different concentrations. Extraction yield, total phenols content as well as antioxidant activity in obtained extracts were determined. The highest extraction yield was obtained by 70% methanol (5.9 g/100g of defatted rapeseed). Total phenols content was determined as a simillar for methanol and ethanol extracts. The highest antioxidant capacity and lowest IC50 value (0.009 mg/cm 3 ) has been determined for methanolic extract. Antioxidant activity of rapeseed extracts was compared to well known antioxidant as standard compound (Vitamin C).
