Title: Using the Surveyor Generals' Office data to determine economic activity in South Africa
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to use the different types of documents that are submitted to the Surveyor Generals’ Offices in the nine provinces of South Africa for examination and approval by the professional land surveyor in terms of the Land Survey Act, 1997 and to determine the extent of economic activity taking place in each of the nine provinces. This paper also analyses the relationship between the number of projects submitted to each Surveyor General’s Office and the number of land parcels being created.
