Title: Understanding Adult Business Students' Transitions to an Undergraduate Program through a First-Year Seminar Course
Abstract: This study addressed a gap in the literature of adult students in the first-year seminar research and explored the importance of tailoring a first-year seminar course to adult student needs. The study participants were seven returning business students who enrolled in a special summer offering of the BSN101 Foundations of Business Administration course focused on designing a curriculum that is relevant to the adult student’s needs. The process used was action research where students collaboratively worked together with the researcher to determine what components were needed in a first-year seminar for adult business students and to aid in their adjustment to college. The major finding was a model which can be used by educators when they are working with adult populations in the classroom.
