By focusing on peasant movements during the Stalinist collectivization in the 1930s and on the twenty-first century transnational peasant movement La Via Campesina we ask what this comparative exercise can teach us about the scale and range of peasant actions in a globalizing world: How are peasant actions organized? What are their demands and expectations? Whom do they see as their enemies and adversaries?
