Title: Enterprise Information System Model for Royal Malaysian Navy Organization
Abstract: To a large extent, as existing war arsenals with so much involvement of high technology and sophisticated electronic gadgets, it is not surprising to admit that the cost and cycle times of maintenance, repair and overhaul of these system increases, within a military Organization. As to date, a lot of effort has been done in military organization to conduct studies to help the cycle times of maintenance system become more efficient. Current research efforts on logistics, maintenance and operations are focusing on individual department’s need and problem. However, in order to solve effectively on “sustainment” problem, research should be conducted on the whole enterprise organization, from acquisition, infrastructure, organization, raw materials, ground level managements, maintenance, supply chains and so forth to final product delivery. This exploratory study examines how an Enterprise Information System (EIS) Model can be established in Malaysian military organization and problems issues needed to be addressed, and most importantly in a manner an organization’s value chain is managed in an integrated manner, handling its inventory, logistic orders, maintenance, operations and human resource management from military perspective.
