Title: RUN_MACRO Run! With PROC FCMP and the RUN_MACRO Function from SAS® 9.2, Your SAS® Programs Are All Grown Up
Abstract: When SAS® first came into our life, it comprised but a DATA step and a few procedures. Then we trained our fledgling programs using %MACRO and %MEND statements, and they were able to follow scripted instructions. But with SAS 9.2 and 9.3, your macros are now wearing the clothes of a PROC FCMP function; you no longer need to feed every parameter with a spoon. These functions are independent programming units, and this paper shows how they can be put to use for handy calculations, standardizing and simplifying code, and adding dynamic new capabilities that may change the way you program.
