Title: Evaluation of certain new insecticides against Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) on chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)
Abstract: Chickpea variety Saki was sown at Agricultural Research Farm of Banaras Hindu University during Rabi season 2012-13 and 2013-14 for the evaluation of certain new insecticides. During the Rabi 2012-13 all treatments were found significantly superior to control after both spraying. Spinosad 45 SC was the best of all the treatments which reduced 54.25 and 60.11 per cent larval population followed by Indoxacarb 14.5 EC, Fipronil 5 SC, Emamectin benzoate 5 SG Cartap hydrochloride 50 SP, Profenophos 50 EC, Quinalphos 25 EC, Thiodicarb 75 WP and HaNPV which reduced larval population 53.45, 51.65, 50.84, 46.78, 43.53, 43.28, 42.05, and 34.77, per cent and 59.06, 58.86, 54.00, 51.44, 50.51, 48.38, 42.71 and 42.60 per cent after first and second spraying, respectively. During the Rabi 2013-14 all treatments were found significantly superior to control. Spinosad 45 SC was the best of all the treatments which reduced 59.76 and 70.62 per cent larval population followed by Indoxacarb 14.5 EC, Fipronil 5 SC, Emamectin benzoate 5 SG, Cartap hydrochloride 50 SP, Profenophos 50 SC, Quinalphos 25 EC, Thiodicarb 75 WP and HaNPV which reduced larval population 59.54, 55.58, 52.66, 50.00, 44.17, 42.00, 41.76, and 37.43 per cent and 69.32, 63.30, 59.65, 53.50, 51.95, 50.96, 47.20 and 40.06 per cent after first and second spraying, respectively. The highest yield in 2012-13 and 2013-14 was recorded from Spinosad 45 SC treated plot 18.35 and 19.40 q/ha, respectively while lowest in HaNPV treated plot 11.33 and 11.15 q/ha, respectively. Maximum C:B ratio recorded in Fipronil 5 SC treated plot 1:7.44 and 1:10.41 for 2012-13 and 2013-14, respectively while minimum in HaNPV treated plot 1:3.21 and 1:4.47, respectively.
