Title: Should compassionate practice be incentivised?
Abstract: A lack of compassion is often seen as the root of problems within the NHS. However, this assumption is open to question. It is not always clear what is meant by compassion, and it is not evident that compassion is the best way of motivating healthcare workers. Addressing organisational issues by attempting to enhance compassion may therefore mask the real cause of the problems the NHS currently faces.
