Title: GC-MS analysis of chemical constituents of essential oil from seeds of Ostericum grosseserratum
Abstract: To determine the chemical constituents of the essential oil from the seeds of Ostericum grosseserratum (Maxim.) Kitagawa, the essential oil was extracted by supercritical CO 2 fluid extraction(SFE-CO 2 ) and steam distillation-extract(SDE) methods respectively. The chemical constituents and fatty acids were analyzed by the means of capillary gas chromatography and combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). The results showed that 19 volatile constituents including γ-terpinen and bornyl acetate were identified from the oil by SDE and from SFE-CO 2 , 28 constituents, from which 24 volatile constituents including γ-terpinen and bornyl acetate and 4 fatty acids including linoleic acid, were identified. Both volatile components represented by γ-terpinene and fatty acids represented by linoleic acid were demonstrated that they were from the essential oil of O. grosseserratum and had some bioactivities. The analysis of the chemical compositions of the essential oil from the seed of O. grosseserratum could play a foundation for further researching on biological their activities and exploitation.
