As for the existing research on coverage of WMSNs, the Euclidean distance, i.e., only parameter considered in the control way of coverage-enhanced, can really not describe the coverage overlap of sensors. Aiming at efficiently shutting off redundant sensors and enhancing coverage ratio, the authors present a virtual centripetal force-based coverage-enhancing algorithm for WMSNs by introducing the force model of centripetal force and the theory of grid and defining sensor's mass, showing the overlap between sensors. Redundant sensors are shut off, and coverage of networks can be enhanced by redeploy sensors under the repel force-based centripetal force of circular motion although large numbers of redundant sensors are shut off. Simulation results are presented for demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach.Read More
