This effect was not consistently preceded by an increase in the serum Ca. The actions of vitamin D were much slower in onset than similar effects of parathyroid extract, and this could not be attributed to a delay in absorption of the vitamin. Finally, unlike parathyroid hormone, vitamin D failed to increase OHPr excretion. (Endocrinology82: 760, 1968)Read More
