Title: Random-access system for mixed voice and data packets
Abstract: The situation where two or more different types of data packets, e.g., voice and data packets, are transmitted in the same network is considered. Different access and retransmission policies for the different types of packets and their effect on throughput and delay are studied. The main result is that packet delay can be substantially reduced for those types of packets which can tolerate a small percentage of packet loss (e.g. voice packets).< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
