Abstract: The human communication system relies very heavily on speech, but communication depends not only on speech but also on the many features which accompany the speech act, especially non-verbal communication behaviors. In traditional biblical interpretation, it has been customary to focus attention on lexical semantics, the meaning of words. But we need to consider the accompanying elements for a complete interpretation of the Bible. In this regard, this paper aims to investigate some aspects of non-verbal communication patterns found in the Bible. For this purpose, we will examine related biblical data by dividing them into five areas: kinesics, paralanguage, proxemics, chronemics, and clothing and ornaments. The results of this study will hopefully be able to serve a useful role in biblical interpretation as well as in general human communication.
