Title: Current practice in the design of closed circuit air cooled machine coolers
Abstract: The basic thermal design methods for air to air heat exchangers for use in electrical machine cooling applications have changed little since the early 1970s. The correlations for heat transfer and pressure drops across and through arrays of plain tubes are well established. It is therefore, in related design areas that specifications and design solutions have developed. The author looks at the major areas of design and range of options open to designers including thermal design, equipment layout, noise, and vibration. >
