Title: Immunomicroscopy: A Diagnostic Tool for the Surgical Pathologist (Major Problems in Pathology, Vol 19)
Abstract: Pathology, both diagnostic and experimental, has been revolutionized during the past 10 years by immunomicroscopy. This method allows the sensitivity and specificity of the immune system to be analyzed in conjunction with histomorphologic findings. The resultant increase in discriminative capabilities has been so great that, in many respects, pathology is virtually being rewritten. For the practicing pathologist, these are exciting but intimidating times. How can one keep up with all the new terminology and concepts? What do all these acronyms and notations signify, such as the “ABC,” “PAP,” or “enzyme-bridge” methods or “Leu-3” versus “OKT4” antigens? This volume is a good place to begin a quest to keep abreast. One of the earliest and foremost proponents of this methodologic revolution, Dr. Clive Taylor, has produced this outstanding book that serves both as a reference source for methodologic details and as a conceptual text for scientific principles and diagnostic applications.
