Title: A rede, os nós, as teias: tecnologias alternativas na agricultura*
Abstract: Between 1996 and 1998, the most important NGO's whose activities articulate rural development and environmentalism in Brazil have submitted themselves voluntarily to an evaluation of their network articulation. Within this framework, this paper intends to contribute to a reflection on the future of this articulation. The paper recognizes that both individual organization and Rede AT (Alternative Technologies Network) are undergoing a healthy process of change characterized by a widening of its scope of contacts and intervention. At he same time, the network keeps - and strives to keep - its own identity, whose greater expression is agro-ecology. The paper is organized around the following three questions. Is this a network? Can this be considered an alternative network? What are the scope and limits of technology as the main axis of this articulation?
