Title: Sources of industrial growth and structural change: The case of Turkey
Abstract: This study provides an empirical analysis of the sources of Turkey's growth and structural change since the 1950s, and considers the prospects for its transition from and inward-looking development strategy to trade-oriented growth in the 1980s. The paper discusses the major planning issues for improved adjustment to current domestic and international economic problems, with special attention to the role of Turkey's public and private sectors in the industrialization process. As part of a project on industrialization in selected semi-industrial countries, the study also compares Turkey's experience with those of other countries.
