Title: Multiuser interference cancellation with a two-dimensional RAKE receiver for DS/CDMA communications
Abstract: Multiuser detection is a key method to combat the near-far problem, among which a popular category is the interference cancellation (IC) receiver. IC receivers have been shown to be near-far resistant and can be used to increase the capacity of the system significantly. In this paper, to further enhance the anti-fading technique of DS/CDMA schemes in mobile radio communication systems, a two-dimensional RAKE reception (2D RAKE) scheme employing a blind adaptive antenna array is considered. In the 2D RAKE receiver, the antenna array is combined with the conventional RAKE receiver. We investigate the performance of two types of IC receiver, parallel interference cancellation (PIC) and serial interference cancellation (SIC), with the 2D RAKE. This paper shows that the received signals in the reverse link can be relieved from multipath fading by means of combining interference cancellation and 2D RAKE reception.
