Title: Nonketotic Hyperglycemia and Epilepsia Partialis Continua
Abstract: In five patients with nonketotic hyperglycemia, the initial symptom was epilepsia partialis continua, persisting for an average of six days. Epilepsia partialis continua and repetitive focal motor seizures are the presenting symptoms in 6% of all cases of nonketotic hyperglycemia. Prognosis is grave for comatose patients and excellent if the metabolic derangement is corrected prior to onset of coma. It is important to determine blood glucose levels in all cases of epilepsia partialis continua.
