Title: Murine Anti-Spermatozoal Antibodies Induced by Sperm-Tetanus Toxoid Conjugates1
Abstract: The possible use of tetanus toxoid as a carrier which would heighten immune responses to spermatozoa was studied in mice. Animals previously immunized to tetanus toxoid showed the greatest humoral antibody response to spermatozoa covalently coupled with tetanus toxoid. This response was significantly greater than the response of mice preimmunized with tetanus toxoid and then injected with sperm mixed with tetanus toxoid or of nonpreimmunized mice injected with tetanus toxoid-coupled spermatozoa. These results suggest that immunization with tetanus toxoid-coupled sperm can evoke increased humoral responses in carrier primed mice.
