Electric field distributions are calculated for arrangements with three contact conditions: point, line, and surface contact. We focus on the effect of surface conductivity on the electric field. It is found that the presence of surface conductivity results in electric field intensification. Similar to the effect of volume conductivity, when the surface conductivity is higher than a certain value, a change in the position of the peak electric field takes place. The effect of the surface conductivity is noticeable for values as low as 0.8 nS.Read More
