Title: Le silence des pratiques. La question des rapports de genre dans les familles d'« indépendants »
Abstract: Résumé Cet article s’appuie sur deux enquêtes de terrain menées auprès de familles d’indépendants, l’une auprès d’exploitations familiales viticoles dans la région de Cognac, l’autre auprès de familles d’artisans (boulangers-pâtissiers et maçons). Dans les deux cas, on peut observer, d’une part, un partage sexué des tâches au sein du collectif de production familiale – collectif de production professionnelle mais aussi domestique, que nous appellerons maisonnée – et, d’autre part, une définition « genrée » des rôles dans la transmission du patrimoine de la lignée (ou groupe de descendance). Pourtant, les personnes enquêtées ne tiennent ni discours normatif, ni discours contestataire sur le rôle des hommes et des femmes. Le partage des tâches, par exemple, est bien décrit mais son aspect genré n’est pas remarqué et encore moins remis en cause. En l’absence d’un discours féministe ou sexiste, la question du genre peut néanmoins faire sens pour les acteurs par le biais de problématiques qui leur sont propres. Ainsi la différenciation des rôles masculins et féminins au sein de la lignée est-elle clairement explicitée, voire contestée par les enquêté(e)s. En revanche, la problématisation du partage genré des tâches (domestiques et professionnelles) n’apparaît qu’indirectement. Pour l’appréhender, il a fallu poser une question qui, elle, fait sens pour les enquêté(e)s : l’accroissement du travail salarié des femmes d’indépendants.
