Title: Effect of Calcination Temperatures on Microstructure and Phase Formation of Ba(Zr0.3Ti0.7)O3
Abstract: In this work, the effect of calcination temperatures on microstructure and phaseformation of Ba(Zr0.3Ti0.7)O3 (BZT) powders was investigated. The BZT powders wereprepared via the solid state reaction method under various calcination temperatures. Thethermal gravimetric (TG) differential thermal analysis (DTA) and X-ray diffraction (XRD)were evaluated the optimum condition for calcinations. The microstructure was studied byusing scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It has been found that the second phases such asBaCO3, ZrO2, BaZrO3 and Ba2ZrO4 were existed with calcination temperature below 1200oC. The pure perovskite phase of the BZT powders was obtained with calcination conditionat 1300 oC for 4 h. Lattice parameter (a) tended to increased with increasing calcinationstemperatures. The percentage of cubic perovskite phase was discussed. The TG-DTA resultswere corresponding to XRD investigation. The microstructures of the powders exhibited analmost-spherical morphology and have a porous agglomerated form. The average particlesizes were increased from 0.23 to 1.13 μm with increasing of calcinations temperatures from800 to 1350 oC, respectively.
