Title: HIV infection and injecting drug users — needle exchange schemes
Abstract: EXPERIENCE so far with needle-exchange schemes demonstrates no negative effects and, while conclu sive evidence is still awaited, their existence is likely at least to keep the spread of HIV infection within present limits among intravenous drug users. It is argued that needle-exchange should be regarded as one of a range of services designed to minimise the harm related to injecting drug use.
