Title: Multipole approach to the inverse electrocardiological problem for the realistic inhomogeneous body conductor
Abstract: The multipole approach to the inverse electrocardiological problem consists of estimating the multipole moments of the cardiac electrical generator, starting from the measured body surface potential. In our work we investigated the feasibility of this approach, through numerical simulations using realistic models for both the body conductor and the cardiac electrical generator. Experiments were conducted to determine the stability and the accuracy of three different estimation techniques. Different aspects of the estimation of multipole moments and the related quasi-epicardial potential are discussed, namely: the estimation method, aspects of regularisation, and the number and positioning of measurement electrodes.
