Title: Complete resection in lung cancer surgery: proposed definition by R. Rami-Porta, C. Wittekind and P. Goldstraw
Abstract: We have read with interest the article written by Rami-Porta, Wittekind and Goldstraw (complete resection in lung cancer surgery: proposed definition. Lung Cancer 2005;49:25–33). The authors, who are the renowned members of the Staging Committee of the IASLC are to be congratulated for the thorough review of literature regarding definitions of a complete pulmonary resection in lung cancer, and for their efforts to establish widely accepted definitions regarding the completeness of resection in lung cancer; the need for such definitions is obvious.
