Abstract: La crise des subprimes est née sur les marchés financiers américains. On a d’abord pensé qu’elle épargnerait les « pays pauvres », moins intégrés financièrement. Cela n’a pas été le cas. À l’occasion des Jéco, le sujet a réuni Pierre Jacquet, Philippe Martin, Akiko Suwa-Eisenmann et Frédéric Lemaître 1 autour de l’exemple des pays d’Afrique subsaharienne. Comment l’Afrique subsaharienne a-t-elle été touchée par la crise ? Quelles politiques a-t-elle mis en place pour y faire face ? Quelles sont les conséquences à long terme pour ce sous-continent ? Selon une approche plus théorique, on pourra également se demander quels enseignements peut tirer l’économie du développement de cette crise. En effet, l’ampleur et l’originalité de la crise conduisent à une révision des schémas d’analyse.
