An experimental quadrupole having an aperture diameter of 4 cm with magnets made of YuNDK25BA alloy steel was used to obtain a field gradient of 2.5 kG/cm (for an optimal geometry of the magnets it is possible to obtain a gradient of up to 4 kG/cm). The possibility of setting the gradient within 0.1 percent is demonstrated experimentally. It is concluded that the use of quadrupoles with permanent magnets in linear high-energy proton accelerators is expedient.Read More
