Title: Study of solvation models. Interpretation of solvent effect on the π*â†n transition of methyl acetate
Abstract: Continuum, discrete and continuum–discrete models of solvation have been considered in order to rationalize the effect of solvent on the π*â†n transition of methyl acetate. Whilst for solvents which give unspecific interactions the continuum model appears to be appropriate, for water a model which takes into account both specific and unspecific interactions is needed.
