Abstract: Isolating an epileptogenic zone by disconnecting it from the rest of the brain is a principle that has gained more prominence in the last 15 years. Several variants of disconnection techniques (or deafferentation techniques) have been published, like the hemispherotomy procedures,1 ,2 but the principle of disconnection has also been used for other procedures, such as temporal lobe disconnection or temporo-mesial disconnection.
