Title: Comparing one-way and two-way paging systems
Abstract: Classical paging systems are based on one-way communication channels: network towards pagers. Recent evolutions of paging systems have focused on supplying a reverse link, i.e., pager to network, thus allowing two-way paging services. In this paper, we compare the two kind of systems in order to evaluate their respective spectrum efficiency, service and quality of service, database management constraints and network infrastructure. Our aim is to identify the impact of introducing a reverse link in a one-way paging system. This study is based on the Ermes system specifications.
