Title: Effect on the Exhaust Gas Temperature, Cooling Water Temperature and Lubricating Oil Temperature of Single Cylinder HSDI Diesel Engine by Varying Compression Ratio in MMIS
Abstract: The main objective of this research work was to optimize the performance and exhaust emissions of single cylinder, 4 stroke water cooled, HSDI CI engine running on (MMIS) mechanical multiple injection system. Engine tests have been carried out with the aim of obtaining comparative measures of engine performance parameters like exhaust gas temperature, cooling water temperature and lubricating oil temperature, which directly indicates the overall reduction in temperature of combustion chamber. By performing multiple injections in diesel engine, the combustion becomes more homogeneous and it will give complete burning of fuel. The performance can further be optimized and temperature of engine can further be reduced by reduction in the compression ratio. Better performance of engine with MMIS (Mechanical Multiple Injection System) shows the reduction of engine temperature and is a potential for reduce cooling cost of engine. The engine test cycle is follows as per IS: 10000 (Part VI) - 1980 constant speed of 3000 rpm.
