Title: Integrating multiple motor control functions using a single DSP controller
Abstract: DSP motor controllers provide the unique on-chip peripherals and computational power needed to implement motor control applications that range from aerospace, automobiles, medicine, robotics and manufacturing to home appliances. A single-chip DSP controller solution allows designers to implement multiple functions such as a general motor drive algorithm, power factor correction scheme and communications protocol etc. needed for overall motor drive systems. Inexpensive DSP motor controllers can be used as universal hardware platforms for most motor drive applications. This reduces the overall system cost and also shortens the time to market. This paper presents a complete implementation of a three-phase AC induction motor drive with power factor correction and serial communication using a single low cost DSP motor controller.
