Title: TRNG Testing Scheme using Approximate Periods based on Relative Hamming Distance
Abstract: Random numbers are widely used in many kinds of areas, especially in cryptography. In 2001, NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) released statistical test suite for random and pseudorandom number generators for cryptographic applications. We had examined whether the test suite of NIST is also suitable for true random number generators and recommended additional testing scheme for true random number generators. We propose a new testing scheme for true random number generators using approximate periods based on hamming distance function. Our experimental results show that edit distance function is required to testify pseudorandom and true random number generators.
