Abstract: A method of analysing rat surface enamel is described, which is simple and reproducible. Mean concentrations of Strontium (Sr) in rat enamel varied between 199 and 2916 μg Sr/g enamel, depending upon the dose of Sr given (from 0 to 100 μg/ml). Concentrations of Sr in enamel increased linearly as the dose of Sr given pre- and post-eruptively increased. The concentration of enamel in rats given Sr pre-eruptively only reached a maximum at a dose of 50 μg/ml.
