Title: Parent lines of X-ray high-frequency satellites
Abstract: Parent lines of the high-frequency satellites alpha ", alpha ', alpha 3", alpha 3, alpha 4, alpha 5, alpha 6 and alpha 3' in the K region; alpha ', alpha ix, alpha x, alpha a, alpha 2', alpha 3, alpha 4, alpha 5, alpha 5', alpha 6, alpha 7, alpha 8 and alpha 9 in the L region and alpha I, alpha II, alpha III, alpha IV and gamma ' in the M region have been reported. The parent lines of Lbeta , Lgamma and Mbeta satellites already reported in the tables of Cauchois and Hulubei have been confirmed. General validity and a qualitative justification of a 'new criterion' for the assignment of the parent lines of high- frequency X-ray satellites first proposed by Deodhar have been shown and discussed. Finally it has been concluded that the 'new criterion' seems to be more fundamental than the 'semi-Moseley plots'. Attention is drawn to the importance of this study.
