Title: Adsorptive stripping voltammetry of clotiapine at a hanging mercury drop electrode
Abstract: A method is presented for the determination of clotiapine, an antipsychotic drug, by differential-pulse cathodic stripping voltammetry preceded by adsorptive collection on a hanging mercury drop electrode. The optimum analytical conditions were found to be either 2-(N-cyclohexylamino)ethanesulphonic acid (CHES) (pH 9.3) or Tris (pH 7.4) buffered solutions, an adsorption potential of −1 V and a stirred collection time of 30–270 s. Under these conditions, subnanomolar levels can be detected, the detection limit being 0.05 nM. CHES (pH 9.3) buffered solutions are to be preferred in the presence of octanol, whose impurities give a lower background current near the clotiapine peak in this medium.
