CHILD DEVELOPMENT, 1971, 42, 883-891. The perceptual learning of reflective and impulsive kindergarten children was compared. The type of information being processed and learned was assessed by means of a transfer procedure. The reflective Ss' performance indicated that they perceived and evaluated information based on the feature differences of stimulus arrays. The information processed by the impulsive Ss could not be identified, but several possibilities were suggested. The implications of the general findings for cognitive and perceptual processing were discussed.Read More
