Title: Kinetic study of sensitized norbornadiene photoisomerization
Abstract: Abstract One of the best systems for photochemical storage of solar energy is the interconversion between norbornadiene and quadricyclane. This paper presents a kinetic study of norbornadiene photoisomerization sensitized with acetophenone, using ethanol as solvent. This photoreaction was carried out at 25°C and at high reaction conversion yield, quadricyclane being detected as the only reaction product. As a result of that, the global isomerization quantum yield is a norbornadiene and quadricyclane concentration function. In the same way, the influences of temperature and solvent on the photoisomerization kinetics have been studied.
