Title: Selective catalytic reduction of NOx emitted by nitric acid plants
Abstract: Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is now widely used to reduce NOx emissions from nitric acid plants. Data on the commercial vanadium oxide-alumina catalyst DN 110, active at low temperature, are presented. Effects of operating temperature, gas composition and space velocity are investigated. For both NO and NO2 reductions reaction mechanisms are proposed to explain the experimental results. Coupling of SCR with high-efficiency absorption allows an optimization of operating costs of NOx abatement.
