Title: Distributed heterogeneous forest resource data management and service architecture research
Abstract: Abstract Forest resource data are introduced and application requirements of forest resource data are analysed. The distributed hierarchical architecture for forest resource data management and sharing is proposed. Heterogeneous data access, a global metadata model, On‐Line Analytical Processing (OLAP)‐oriented metadata aggregation and a portal have been thoroughly investigated. Global metadata models not only provide data descriptions and web service information but also build interrelationships. OLAP‐oriented metadata aggregation generates data cubes through extraction and aggregation. Heterogeneous data access enables automatic data exchange. Based on these technologies and studies, the distributed hierarchical architecture of forest resource data management enables a multi‐perspective view of data and service displays, automatic data and service matches, and on‐demand data services. Thus, it meets the special application system requirements of digital forestry platforms.
