Title: The interaction of DI‐(β‐hydroxyethyl)‐amine, methylamine and ethylamine on halogenonitrobenzenes
Abstract: Abstract The reaction between β‐hydroxyethylamine and halogenonitrobenzenes as well as the acetylation and nitration of the products was described in a previous communication 2 ). These halogenonitrobenzenes react much less readily with di‐(β‐hydroxyethyl)‐amine. Two products, the structures of which could be established, were obtained by interaction of di‐(β‐hydroxyethyl)‐amine on picryl chloride. The reaction products of the halogenonitrobenzenes with methylamine and ethylamine, some of which were already known, have also been prepared with the idea of making the still unknown acetyl derivatives. The melting points and the properties of the compounds obtained have been compared with one another. 2:4‐Dinitro‐ and 2:4:6‐trinitro‐chlorobenzenes and 1:3‐dichloro‐4:6‐dinitrobenzene react readily with di‐(β‐hydroxyethyl) ‐amine. No crystalline reaction products could be obtained in the reactions between di‐(β‐hydroxyethyl) ‐amine and 3:4‐dinitro‐chlorobenzene, 1:4‐dichloro‐2‐nitrobenzene, 1:3‐dichloro‐4:5‐dinitrobenzene or the corresponding bromo‐compounds.
