Title: Measurement of internal contamination with radioactive caesium released from the Chernobyl accident and enhanced elimination by prussian blue
Abstract: Measurements were made on 15 Chinese subjects internally contaminated with radionuclides released from the Chernobyl accident, while staying at Sofia and Profdef in Bulgaria. Estimation of the initial intake was 170-900 Bq of 134Cs and 95-1200 Bq of 137Cs. The biological half-life of radiocaesium (134Cs and 137Cs) in three cases was in the range of 42-71 days. Ferric ferrocyanide (prussian blue) was given successfully to enhance the elimination of radiocaesium from the body during the period of 114-141 days after contamination.
